Why Nootron
Data governance was built around meetings. Your day is not.
Nootron is the vendor-neutral decisioning and action layer for data risk. It normalizes alerts from the data security tools you already own, applies your regulatory, policy and response rules in the moment, routes the decision to the person accountable for that data, and writes a receipt a regulator can read.
The problem
Why does data risk still take weeks to resolve when detection is near real-time?
Detection and the "what now" are different problems. Nothing in the stack was assigned the job of converting signals into a governed decision. Nootron takes that job.
01
Why doesn't better detection reduce data risk?
Enterprises can see more data risk in better detail, but can't resolve it faster. Detection tools are built to find and flag, not to decide, route, escalate or close.
02
Why do four tools produce four versions of the truth?
Each tool owns its alert format, severity scale, retention window and vocabulary. A "high" in one is a "medium" in another.
03
Who decides what to do with data risks?
Security owns the alert, IT owns the system, Legal owns the obligation and the business unit owns the data. They rarely sit in the same meeting.
04
Did AI break data governance?
Governance was already too slow. AI agents now read across over-permissive repositories and act on data with no machine-readable access policies.
How it works
From signal to governed decision
Click through the diagrams to see how Nootron turns data risk signals into decisions your team can defend.
Alerts fire. Governance waits.
A real risk is identified and an alert fires, then the queue fills, a dashboard waits and an analyst is assigned while hybrid tool telemetry lags behind. Nootron governs the action in the moment.
Improve incident response
Empower analysts
to reduce risk
Decide in the moment,
not in committee
Drive value from
your existing tools
Survive the audit
One alert format.
One severity scale.
One queue.
Nootron normalizes alerts from Microsoft Purview, Zscaler, Proofpoint, and DSPM into a single signal schema with a single severity model. Duplicate signals about the same subject, the same asset, or the same actor are correlated into one case instead of four tickets. The analyst opens one queue in the morning and can get to meaningful work, not six consoles.
Features
Cross-vendor signal normalization into a common event schema
Correlation by actor, asset, data class, and time window
Deduplication across tools reporting the same underlying event
Unified severity model mapped back to each source tool’s native scale
Structured escalation chain: event, alert, incident, case
No rip and replace, no lost history, just the data security tool changing while your decisions stay
Healthcare
Financial Services
Your DAG flagged, your DSPM classified, your DLP triggered, and your SWG blocked, all on the same clinician. Then, it became four parallel investigations until Nootron aggregated it into one case with one owner and one resolution path.

Question 1
What actually happened?
What happened? Not what fired. What happened. Nootron assembles the signals from every tool that saw the event, correlates them into one incident with additional enrichment and context: who touched what data, from where, using what, and what the data actually was. The escalation chain is explicit and consistent: event, then alert, then incident, then case. Each step has a definition and a threshold.
Question 2
What are we obligated to do?
The hardest question in data governance and the one most often deferred. Nootron resolves the regulation, the company policy, and the internal response rule that apply to this specific data, this actor, and this jurisdiction, at the moment the incident opens. The applicable obligation arrives with the incident, with its citation. Not a link to a policy library. The rule.
Question 3
Who needs to decide now?
Data risk decisions fail on the org chart more often than on the technology. Nootron maintains a distributed data stewardship model: business unit leads define their data domains, and risk is owned where the data lives. When an incident opens, Nootron identifies the accountable owner, the required collaborators for escalation and investigation, and the approver for remediation, then routes to all of them in the tools they already use for Enterprise communication.
How it is different
It works with your tools, not instead of them
Copilot helps an analyst understand a Purview alert for a cost. Nootron rationalizes all tool feeds and applies business context up front before a single token is used.
Detection tools
Purview Information Protection
Nootron normalizes the signals your tools produce, resolves them against your policy and data ownership model for remediation and records as audit evidence.
Versus SOAR
Decides the response, not just runs it
A SOAR playbook executes a known response. Nootron determines the correct response for data risk and who has the authority to authorize it.
Versus Security Copilot
Across every vendor, one flat price
Copilot helps an analyst understand a Purview alert. Nootron produces the organization's decision across every tool you own, with no consumption meter.
Earned autonomy
Autonomy is earned one action class at a time
Transforming from "our IR is fragmented and full of friction today" to "autonomy" is nothing close to a straight line.
01
Orchestrate
Procedures are codified and routed. Every decision is human.
02
Advise
The system recommends a disposition from rule and precedent. The human accepts or overrides.
03
Act with consent
The system acts on the decision classes it has demonstrated competence in.
04
Act with accountability
The system acts inside revocable boundaries a human set, still writing a receipt for every action.

Field notes
Data risk needs operating controls, not more policy
Policy tells us what should happen. Controls make it happen, become measurable, and provable. If unstructured data is the generally the main course for AI initiatives, we might be overdue for a controls library for data risk?
